Garden Gang – Leigh
The aim of the garden gang is to get people working together to support each other, learn new skills and ways of coping with the stresses of life.
The project has been developed with the support of Wigan council and the armed forces covenant. The project is delivered by the Wigan and Leigh Recovery Partnership. People involved with the Partnership because of issues with either alcohol and drugs are encouraged to get involved as part of their recovery. There is also a focus on working with ex-armed forces veterans as part of the armed forces covenant.
The goal is to create and maintain a working allotment. It’s then hoped that the produce can be sold and the money raised put back into the allotment to develop the project. If this project is a success then there are plans to develop other similar project such as a furniture restoration workshop.
